- Well I did It...Yep I passed my last and final class in order to graduate it was very tough I can't believed I had come all this way and fumbled at the finish line. Meaning I had been busting ass and working hard to make A's and for some reason I made B's but I went and relooked over a few things and realized I hadn't read them correctly. Thank God for a Professor like Dr. B. She let me redo the assignments and when I say I came out with an A yesss i can scream and almosr shout. I made it ya'll....and i just so proud of me. Working jobs, hustling doing door dash and tiff treats just to pay out of pocket and finish man it has not been easy and I would and will do it again. I've always wanted to become Dr. King it just have a ring that makes me wanna sing. I guess I needd to walk across the stage first lol then I'll see what next...oh and pay Lamar the rest of their money
- The Finale 5320 Contribution to my LearningThis is the finale….Wow I can say I made it to the position where I am really done with my Master’s Degree. This has truly been an amazing experience and journey that I was able to accomplish through dedication and hard work. Don’t get it twisted I wanted to give up, I even wanted to quit but I have a daughter who looks up to me and students that look at me as an example that they can do better if they dedicate themselves to it. This final course of the ADL program was similar to a breeze course and went by rather quickly all while connecting the dots to my innovation plan and making everything make sense on the road map as I call it. On this road map you will see from start to finish and then the final outcome of how I got to where I’m currently at and the ultimate ending goal. Finally getting to this finish line was not as easy as I’d had wished but it has definitely left a mark on me as a person knowing that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to no matter the trails. Really and truthfully anything that we do as people we have to work hard for even though hard times will fall upon us and we have to find a better way to handle situations when they arise. And that is what this entire program and course taught me. Being on this program has opened many doors I never thought would be possible for me to walk through and the first of my family generation to do it. Paving the way for the ones coming behind me. This semester was bittersweet because all of my other group members either had previously graduated or hadn’t made it to this course as of yet so once again here I am stuck in a class where I absolutely knew no one. But, that was only until I logged on to class typed in the chat that I needed a group to join. No one responded for quite a while until I received a personal message from Ms./Mrs. Kristen Sabbatini aka Krissi. I automatically felt it was meant to be because my daughter’s name is Kristen spelled the exact same way and for short it's Krissy (LOL). Then she added me to her group which contains Ms. Elda, and Ms. Erica, two other group members that I started with when I enrolled into the program. It was like a family reunion, and we got straight to work. Since we both are mom and our children attend out of school activities and on top of all of that we work we mostly communicate via Zoom, Email, Text, and Talking which would last for hours at a time which was cool because even if we needed help from each other all lines of communication was open to talk and get things rolling in a timely manner. With only 2 members in our group, we made it work to the best of our ability and really worked our butts off to get to where we are currently. For course 5320 I rate myself 95/100. I choose to rate myself at a 95% due to the fact that even though I complete all assignments in a timely manner. I had several revisions to make corrections for simple mistakes such as spelling. I did what Dr. B insisted that I do, which was relook over my assignments and make necessary corrections. She didn’t have to mention the part about resubmitting because I knew that if I was getting the information, it was for me to put it to use and do something about it. I also gave myself the score of 95% because this semester I knew what was up, I knew I couldn’t bull crap around. I had to put my best foot forward and make something shake and if I have to say so myself I did just that. And I feel GREAT like Tony the Tiger.
- ADL Journey/How far have you come? Course(5320)Looking back and fast forwarding to now I must say I’ve come a very long way from being a digital learner to actually being a digital leader. No, this journey has not been easy, but I’ve managed to travel this road through the ADL program with a great network of people who also want to make a difference in education. For that I am truly grateful, having a learning community and a group of individuals just like me who I could collaborate with and share ideas throughout our courses. Along this journey I have been able to create and implement new ways of learning in the classrooms I currently sub. Below are a list of items and projects I have had the pleasure of creating throughout my journey. Innovation plan https://docs.google.com/document/d/10dYcmkD0nRzCJgqTxLZMcmQvzULpFWkSCwAyQutkqRo/edit?usp=sharing During the creation of my innovation plan I had no clue what I was doing. I had just started full-time with the school district and was still feeling my way around the learning process. I was able to write a letter to my then principal concerning how I felt our school needed the correct materials such as computers for every student so that we could start them on the path of implementing blended learning. During the pandemic I saw my district suffering and wanted to find a way to make a way for the students to succeed in their communities. Organizational change When it came to organizing change within my school is was rough because some of the teachers were so used to the old way of learning that they were forgetting that times have changed and this new generation of learners learn different and in order to reach and teach the students. During this course I had to give reasons as to why I believed this change needed to happen within our district. After presenting this I feel like I started to break through and the admins started to hear me https://1drv.ms/w/s!Ao2wr1vIYIQ5sCsUaCuP6J6FYxDV?e=FQsGkF Significant Learning Environment https://1drv.ms/w/s!Ao2wr1vIYIQ5sCsUaCuP6J6FYxDV?e=FQsGkF Call to Action https://youtu.be/_5hsan0FQy8 ePortfolio Creating and overall eportfolio was very challenging but i got it done. I looked at many sites that I could use to help build my eportfolio and landed on Wix since it was a tad bit eaiser to use and navigate. With a little guidance from youtube university I was able to create something i never thought i would be able to create. from learning how to add pages, adding graphic and pictures, learning how to embed links and videos, creating blogs. HTTPS://PRBYEDDRICKA.WIXSITE.COM/WEBSITE Making Connections Having a personal learning NETWORK COLLOBRATION group throughout my time within the adl program has really been a huge help. Coming into this program not really knowing what I was doing or to expect but was forced to connect with other educator such as myself which turned out better than expected and honestly made this journey much better. https://prbyeddricka.wixsite.com/website/team-3 Out of everything I have accomplished throughout this entire course I must say what truly made me feel like I could do anything I put my mind to and thats when I first got into the program and realized I was going to create a working classroom boy was I scared but I put my mind to it and look at me now in the year 2023 getting ready to graduate and have my Masters in Education. I would've never thought I make it to the finishline but here I AM!!!!!!

- ADL Capstone 5320 | GradLifeThe Finale Capstone Course 5320 Welcome to the last course for the ADL Program here at Lamar. This has been a wonderful journey that and so glad I got the chance to take advantage of during my educational career. Here you will find how I survived the ADL Program here at Lamar University COVA Reflection & Application Where or when did you first realize that you genuinely had choice, ownership, and voice through authentic assignments? Before enrolling into the ADL program here at Lamar I had no idea about COVA and couldn’t tell you what it meant but all along it was something I had been practicing with not only myself but the students I have come in contact with since working in the school district. Once I realized what COVA was, I became more interested in learning more. What was your initial reaction when given the freedom and responsibility to choose to take ownership of your learning through an authentic project? Were you ready for this? If not or if so…what did you do? When given the freedom and responsibility to be able to take ownership over how I learn and or teach through authentic learning my first initial reaction was WOW this is amazing that I have the ability to take my learning ability into my own hands without being judged. Yes, indeed I was ready because it was something new that I could learn at my own pace because it’s my freedom to be able to learn on my own at my own pace. What did you do to adjust to this style of learning? Knowing what you know now, what would you do differently? When the pandemic hit no one was ready for what was about to happen, students nor teachers. Honestly my school district wasn’t equipped with the correct materials needed to help the students continue their education. It took about 2 months to get all students with the correct materials, but another problem arose and that was actually getting the students to stay on the devices in order for them to learn. Knowing what I know now, I feel it is necessary for all students to be able to know how to properly use a computer that has online learning courses. From cutting it on and off to being able to login to class and complete assignments. This should be embedded in all schools’ learning curriculum. How difficult was it to take control of your own voice and focus on your organization as the audience for your work? It was not difficult for me at all to be able to take control of my own voice because I really didn’t have a voice or choice to begin with. I was basically thrown into a position neither the students nor other teachers were ready for but, by being thrown into that position I quickly realized that I had to put my best foot forward and help where my help was needed. I put my pride to the side and did what needed to be done. Some students had mixed feelings toward promoting change in their organizations—how has your attitude toward leading change grown throughout the program? With the program being new and knowing that the schools needed any kind of help they could get when it came to promoting change within the organization my feelings were straight forward already kind of knowing what the targeted problem was and coming up with ways to resolve the issue. How authentic is your innovation plan; did you just create it to get through the course work or did you really hope to change your organization. If I do have to say so myself my innovation plan is authentic and was built from course work provided throughout the ADL program here at Lamar created by Dr. H. The passion that Dr. H has put out in the atmosphere has allowed me to be able to take this opportunity and developing my own innovation plan in order to help my organization become better when it comes to teaching and presenting information and educational resources that will not only make the educational system as a whole better but helping the students through out their educational experience called school. Applying what I Know Knowing what you know now about the COVA approach how will you plan to use the COVA approach to create significant learning environments in your organization? Knowing what I now know about COVA I have already started implementing blended learning within station rotation into every classroom that I have the opportunity to sub in and the students love it. I have been able to create something within my organization that only have been taught in trainings within the district but never brought into the classroom until now due to the fact that the district is low on supplies but just enough to start something worth while to the students, parents, and teachers. How will you give your learners choice ownership and voice through authentic assignments? Since I am only a substitute teacher for the district I don’t have my own classroom as of yet but, with me being able to go in and out of classrooms I am able to create learning environments where the students are learning together and for the ones that need help I group them with their peers so they can learn from one another in a significant learning environment (The Classroom). My ADL JOURNEY Innovation Plan Update Part II So far in my innovation plan/project I’m at the point of no return meaning I have to keep pushing my way to the top so that my voice can be heard to defend the children. It takes a very passionate person who loves what they do, not letting anyone stop them from going up and I believe I am the person for that job. Upon entering the ADL program it was said that you will have to come up with a plan that will push forth your innovation of implementing whatever goal it was that you wanted to accomplish for your organization. Now before this plan could be fulfilled, I created a proposal which was to inform my current organization of the importance of how beneficial it would be to have enough computers in the classroom while implementing blended learning into the teachers curriculum. I began to realize after being in the classroom after the COVID-19 pandemic there needed to be a change in how we as educators are getting our students to be able to learn and understand what they are learning. Not having computers within the classroom was such a huge hindrance to our children/students. The 2020 pandemic showed us that in more ways than one. Not only did Coronavirus shut down corporate America, but it also shut down our school system and forced all students to go to school online since face to face was out of the question. During this time, we as teachers had to jump in to help those in need, most of our students didn’t own a computer let alone know how to turn one on. It was not a good look on the district and especially not a good look for our students because they are the ones who are suffering. There had to be a way to get our students back to the levels that they once were on and even though it would take time, I had to put a move on it and create a literature review which gave extended information on why its so important that any student within the school district should be introduced to blended learning and how having and or adding blended learning into the classroom will not only benefit the students but the teachers as well. The Lit review I created gave great insight and benefits that would arise if the organization was to go through with the plan which would of course once again be more beneficial to the students as well as their teachers. This plan will take such a heavy load off the teachers so that the teachers can actually start teaching again in a learning environment that the students can feel comfortable in. I found out why putting actions into place that implementing a station rotation with blended learning in the classroom was the best approach for my classroom since I’m with pre-k through 2nd grade. Getting the children to first learn how to be social was the first step in fulfilling the ultimate goal of adding blended learning into the classroom. Once all the pieces and components were put in place, I began to see how having blended learning had changed the classroom and allowed each student to be able to have Choice, Ownership, Voice, through Authentic learning better known as COVA. Being able to allow each and every child to have a choice on how they choose to learn has been more beneficial especially since I am a sub. Being a sub-teacher has allowed me to give the students a little more freedom when it comes to learning and they love it. They love seeing Ms. King and I love giving them their freedom to be themselves and listen to what it is they want and would think help them learn better. Knowing what I know now I was then able to create an implementation outline that gives detailed information on why Implementing Blended Learning with Small Group Rotation will help promote the students' learning abilities in not only their school learning environment but also their home learning environment.. I actually was given a chance to implement blended learning with station rotation in a classroom that I was considered to be the student's teacher until the school was able to find them one. During station rotation I had stations available for the students, each station had a group of either 4 or 5 students were they would work together and solve group problems once they have solved station 1 issue they would then move to station 2 and so on until all groups have solved problems and have come up with some sort or solution. I was also able to create a Call to Action video which is exactly what it sounds like, which is a call to make some action happen and what all it will take to make the action become a reality. As my plan started to unfold, I got more and more excited because I was finally able to reach and teach the students on a level that they would understand and that made me happy which caused me to realize I had to keep going because the students needed me and honestly, I needed them. My next step was to create a learning Professional Development module that would assist other educators within my organization in how this new plan should be implemented into their current curriculum, how it will work and resources that will be needed to make sure this road is easy for teachers and students which is included in Overview Of Professional Learning Strategy This overview gave professional learners different strategies they can implement into their own classrooms sort of like a guided guideline. Next, it had come to the point where everything was ready, and the final step was to make the plan become reality which caused an action of research plan to take place with this plan I was able to have a plan for the plan where I created surveys that would help determine how and and why implementing blended learning will help not only the teachers but the students as well. The Final Results Come to think of it, I've realized I had created a way out for students in low income school districts. Don't get me wrong I know it will take time to fix the ongoing issues when it comes to blended learning. But, right now we can work on the little things just to get and have the student involved. Overall, I’m excited to be able to call out the problem that our schools are currently facing and take action or put other solutions in place so that students can be fully equipped with what they need in order to be successful while learning in an educational setting and not be ashamed if they don’t know. This plan is to allow kids to once again just be kids, and has also allowed teachers to actually teach again which has been the ultimate goal from the start. - Why use an Eportfolio? In Class 5303·December 2, 2021Honestly now that I am back in school having an portfolio is one of the best things I could have gotten they really come in handy. Especially when it comes to keeping up with all your work an assignments. Being brought up doing everything by hand and having to file papers or keep up with loose papers has now become a thing of the past since almost everything has become digital. Technology has made it so much easier, we now have mini computers at the tip of our fingertips (our phones). Instead of writing things you need to do on pieces of paper you can now create a note in your phone and check off everything that needs to be done and the phone will track it for you. Eportfolios are used overall to digitally record the students learning through out their educational learning experience, giving one time to reflect on what you have accomplished through out your educational experiences as well as the cooperate world. Its a way to collect and reflect on your work, showcase achievements, create study and work plans. Its basically your OWN space a space you have created just for you and for you to be able to share with others if you choose. Creating an Eportfolio for grad school has been such a tremendous help for me allowing me to record and keep information needed for future dates all in one place. I am still learning how to setup different tabs and blogs which as become a challenge but not bad enough to say I give up....oh no that's not in me001
- Contribution my Learning and The Learning CommunityIn Class 5303·December 11, 2021Contribution to my Learning and Learning Community Class 5303 This semester I decided to take it slow. Going so hard my first semester back in school soon made me realize that being a full-time single mom who works 2 jobs just to make ends meet, have own business and doing two online classes was defiantly pushing it and doing too to much. During this semester I had many bumps and construction going on in my life with two of my close friends losing their parents back-to-back to other bs life threw at me. I was fortunate to have to take only one class this time second term. By this course being the third course of grad school, I have put my pride aside and realized that I will not make it in these courses if I don’t start talking to other colleagues who are taking the same courses. I’ve found it very helpful this semester how powerful it is to have a learning community in any career that you make have. Seeing that I couldn’t make it by myself in school this semester I promised myself to give it my all while learning from my colleagues. After having such a difficult time finding a group to collaborate with in one of my first classes I made it my job to reach out to the group, I was in from my other course so we could get a head start on meetings, books, and other learning materials that would be of great assistance for these upcoming classes. Since being in the program I have gained so much more knowledge in this short amount of time just by being a part of a learning community. The learning community that I am a member of consist of 5 others we all just stuck together after our first two courses together and I am so glad we did. Being able to share ideas, through zoom/team meetings every Wednesday at 7pm has been outstanding and last more than an hour. There were a few members of my learning community taking two classes this semester. I love the fact that as a group we decided to let those members have their meeting about their other class. Just hearing them talk about the work and the course itself made me also realize I did good with dropping that class lol. I mean I still must take it but not now more like in January, so I have a few more months to prep. Being apart of this learning community has taught me that no matter how well you may know something, there’s always someone who knows a little bit more about the subject than you do, and you can learn from others. Our group meetings could be started by any member in our group. Usually, the day before our meetings I would send out a reminder text or a text asking if we where still meeting. To me that job was important because now I felt apart of something and felt like why not reach out who is it going to hurt. It will probably hurt more if you don’t ask. And I’m so glad I did because sometimes it just takes that one and that one was me this time. Before taking these courses, we had never met, and it really seems like we’ve been knowing one another way before grad school. The bond that we have is amazing and I’m extremely happy to be a part of such a dynamic learning environment. Coming in with more knowledge of what needed to be done to be successful in this course has allowed me to open up give and receive helpful feedback/feedforward. With me stepping out the box this semester and fulfilling my promise to myself I have to give myself a grade of 89 for going above and beyond this semester I can honestly can say I have did the damn thang this go round. I'm truthfully proud of myself for stepping out get feedback allowing others to give me feedforward help has been wonderful0010
