The Finale Capstone Course 5320 Welcome to the last course for the ADL Program here at Lamar. This has been a wonderful journey that and so glad I got the chance to take advantage of during my educational career. Here you will find how I survived the ADL Program here at Lamar University COVA Reflection & Application Where or when did you first realize that you genuinely had choice, ownership, and voice through authentic assignments? Before enrolling into the ADL program here at Lamar I had no idea about COVA and couldn’t tell you what it meant but all along it was something I had been practicing with not only myself but the students I have come in contact with since working in the school district. Once I realized what COVA was, I became more interested in learning more. What was your initial reaction when given the freedom and responsibility to choose to take ownership of your learning through an authentic project? Were you ready for this? If not or if so…what did you do? When given the freedom and responsibility to be able to take ownership over how I learn and or teach through authentic learning my first initial reaction was WOW this is amazing that I have the ability to take my learning ability into my own hands without being judged. Yes, indeed I was ready because it was something new that I could learn at my own pace because it’s my freedom to be able to learn on my own at my own pace. What did you do to adjust to this style of learning? Knowing what you know now, what would you do differently? When the pandemic hit no one was ready for what was about to happen, students nor teachers. Honestly my school district wasn’t equipped with the correct materials needed to help the students continue their education. It took about 2 months to get all students with the correct materials, but another problem arose and that was actually getting the students to stay on the devices in order for them to learn. Knowing what I know now, I feel it is necessary for all students to be able to know how to properly use a computer that has online learning courses. From cutting it on and off to being able to login to class and complete assignments. This should be embedded in all schools’ learning curriculum. How difficult was it to take control of your own voice and focus on your organization as the audience for your work? It was not difficult for me at all to be able to take control of my own voice because I really didn’t have a voice or choice to begin with. I was basically thrown into a position neither the students nor other teachers were ready for but, by being thrown into that position I quickly realized that I had to put my best foot forward and help where my help was needed. I put my pride to the side and did what needed to be done. Some students had mixed feelings toward promoting change in their organizations—how has your attitude toward leading change grown throughout the program? With the program being new and knowing that the schools needed any kind of help they could get when it came to promoting change within the organization my feelings were straight forward already kind of knowing what the targeted problem was and coming up with ways to resolve the issue. How authentic is your innovation plan; did you just create it to get through the course work or did you really hope to change your organization. If I do have to say so myself my innovation plan is authentic and was built from course work provided throughout the ADL program here at Lamar created by Dr. H. The passion that Dr. H has put out in the atmosphere has allowed me to be able to take this opportunity and developing my own innovation plan in order to help my organization become better when it comes to teaching and presenting information and educational resources that will not only make the educational system as a whole better but helping the students through out their educational experience called school. Applying what I Know Knowing what you know now about the COVA approach how will you plan to use the COVA approach to create significant learning environments in your organization? Knowing what I now know about COVA I have already started implementing blended learning within station rotation into every classroom that I have the opportunity to sub in and the students love it. I have been able to create something within my organization that only have been taught in trainings within the district but never brought into the classroom until now due to the fact that the district is low on supplies but just enough to start something worth while to the students, parents, and teachers. How will you give your learners choice ownership and voice through authentic assignments? Since I am only a substitute teacher for the district I don’t have my own classroom as of yet but, with me being able to go in and out of classrooms I am able to create learning environments where the students are learning together and for the ones that need help I group them with their peers so they can learn from one another in a significant learning environment (The Classroom). My ADL JOURNEY Innovation Plan Update Part II So far in my innovation plan/project I’m at the point of no return meaning I have to keep pushing my way to the top so that my voice can be heard to defend the children. It takes a very passionate person who loves what they do, not letting anyone stop them from going up and I believe I am the person for that job. Upon entering the ADL program it was said that you will have to come up with a plan that will push forth your innovation of implementing whatever goal it was that you wanted to accomplish for your organization. Now before this plan could be fulfilled, I created a proposal which was to inform my current organization of the importance of how beneficial it would be to have enough computers in the classroom while implementing blended learning into the teachers curriculum. I began to realize after being in the classroom after the COVID-19 pandemic there needed to be a change in how we as educators are getting our students to be able to learn and understand what they are learning. Not having computers within the classroom was such a huge hindrance to our children/students. The 2020 pandemic showed us that in more ways than one. Not only did Coronavirus shut down corporate America, but it also shut down our school system and forced all students to go to school online since face to face was out of the question. During this time, we as teachers had to jump in to help those in need, most of our students didn’t own a computer let alone know how to turn one on. It was not a good look on the district and especially not a good look for our students because they are the ones who are suffering. There had to be a way to get our students back to the levels that they once were on and even though it would take time, I had to put a move on it and create a literature review which gave extended information on why its so important that any student within the school district should be introduced to blended learning and how having and or adding blended learning into the classroom will not only benefit the students but the teachers as well. The Lit review I created gave great insight and benefits that would arise if the organization was to go through with the plan which would of course once again be more beneficial to the students as well as their teachers. This plan will take such a heavy load off the teachers so that the teachers can actually start teaching again in a learning environment that the students can feel comfortable in. I found out why putting actions into place that implementing a station rotation with blended learning in the classroom was the best approach for my classroom since I’m with pre-k through 2nd grade. Getting the children to first learn how to be social was the first step in fulfilling the ultimate goal of adding blended learning into the classroom. Once all the pieces and components were put in place, I began to see how having blended learning had changed the classroom and allowed each student to be able to have Choice, Ownership, Voice, through Authentic learning better known as COVA. Being able to allow each and every child to have a choice on how they choose to learn has been more beneficial especially since I am a sub. Being a sub-teacher has allowed me to give the students a little more freedom when it comes to learning and they love it. They love seeing Ms. King and I love giving them their freedom to be themselves and listen to what it is they want and would think help them learn better. Knowing what I know now I was then able to create an implementation outline that gives detailed information on why Implementing Blended Learning with Small Group Rotation will help promote the students' learning abilities in not only their school learning environment but also their home learning environment.. I actually was given a chance to implement blended learning with station rotation in a classroom that I was considered to be the student's teacher until the school was able to find them one. During station rotation I had stations available for the students, each station had a group of either 4 or 5 students were they would work together and solve group problems once they have solved station 1 issue they would then move to station 2 and so on until all groups have solved problems and have come up with some sort or solution. I was also able to create a Call to Action video which is exactly what it sounds like, which is a call to make some action happen and what all it will take to make the action become a reality. As my plan started to unfold, I got more and more excited because I was finally able to reach and teach the students on a level that they would understand and that made me happy which caused me to realize I had to keep going because the students needed me and honestly, I needed them. My next step was to create a learning Professional Development module that would assist other educators within my organization in how this new plan should be implemented into their current curriculum, how it will work and resources that will be needed to make sure this road is easy for teachers and students which is included in Overview Of Professional Learning Strategy This overview gave professional learners different strategies they can implement into their own classrooms sort of like a guided guideline. Next, it had come to the point where everything was ready, and the final step was to make the plan become reality which caused an action of research plan to take place with this plan I was able to have a plan for the plan where I created surveys that would help determine how and and why implementing blended learning will help not only the teachers but the students as well. The Final Results Come to think of it, I've realized I had created a way out for students in low income school districts. Don't get me wrong I know it will take time to fix the ongoing issues when it comes to blended learning. But, right now we can work on the little things just to get and have the student involved. Overall, I’m excited to be able to call out the problem that our schools are currently facing and take action or put other solutions in place so that students can be fully equipped with what they need in order to be successful while learning in an educational setting and not be ashamed if they don’t know. This plan is to allow kids to once again just be kids, and has also allowed teachers to actually teach again which has been the ultimate goal from the start. Don’t get it twisted I wanted to give up, I even wanted to quit but I have a daughter who looks up to me and students that look at me as an example that they can do better if they dedicate themselves to it. This final course of the ADL program was similar to a breeze course and went by rather quickly all while connecting the dots to my innovation plan and making everything make sense on the road map as I call it. On this road map you will see from start to finish and then the final outcome of how I got to where I’m currently at and the ultimate ending goal. Finally getting to this finish line was not as easy as I’d had wished but it has definitely left a mark on me as a person knowing that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to no matter the trails. Really and truthfully anything that we do as people we have to work hard for even though hard times will fall upon us and we have to find a better way to handle situations when they arise. And that is what this entire program and course taught me. Being on this program has opened many doors I never thought would be possible for me to walk through and the first of my family generation to do it. Paving the way for the ones coming behind me. This semester was bittersweet because all of my other group members either had previously graduated or hadn’t made it to this course as of yet so once again here I am stuck in a class where I absolutely knew no one. But, that was only until I logged on to class typed in the chat that I needed a group to join. No one responded for quite a while until I received a personal message from Ms./Mrs. Kristen Sabbatini aka Krissi. I automatically felt it was meant to be because my daughter’s name is Kristen spelled the exact same way and for short it's Krissy (LOL). Then she added me to her group which contains Ms. Elda, and Ms. Erica, two other group members that I started with when I enrolled into the program. It was like a family reunion, and we got straight to work. Since we both are mom and our children attend out of school activities and on top of all of that we work we mostly communicate via Zoom, Email, Text, and Talking which would last for hours at a time which was cool because even if we needed help from each other all lines of communication was open to talk and get things rolling in a timely manner. With only 2 members in our group, we made it work to the best of our ability and really worked our butts off to get to where we are currently. For course 5320 I rate myself 95/100. I choose to rate myself at a 95% due to the fact that even though I complete all assignments in a timely manner. I had several revisions to make corrections for simple mistakes such as spelling. I did what Dr. B insisted that I do, which was relook over my assignments and make necessary corrections. She didn’t have to mention the part about resubmitting because I knew that if I was getting the information, it was for me to put it to use and do something about it. I also gave myself the score of 95% because this semester I knew what was up, I knew I couldn’t bull crap around. I had to put my best foot forward and make something shake and if I have to say so myself I did just that. And I feel GREAT like Tony the Tiger. No, this journey has not been easy, but I’ve managed to travel this road through the ADL program with a great network of people who also want to make a difference in education. For that I am truly grateful, having a learning community and a group of individuals just like me who I could collaborate with and share ideas throughout our courses. Along this journey I have been able to create and implement new ways of learning in the classrooms I currently sub. I had just started full-time with the school district and was still feeling my way around the learning process. I was able to write a letter to my then principal concerning how I felt our school needed the correct materials such as computers for every student so that we could start them on the path of implementing blended learning. During the pandemic I saw my district suffering and wanted to find a way to make a way for the students to succeed in their communities. Organizational change When it came to organizing change within my school is was rough because some of the teachers were so used to the old way of learning that they were forgetting that times have changed and this new generation of learners learn different and in order to reach and teach the students. During this course I had to give reasons as to why I believed this change needed to happen within our district. After presenting this I feel like I started to break through and the admins started to hear me https://1drv.ms/w/s!Ao2wr1vIYIQ5sCsUaCuP6J6FYxDV?e=FQsGkF Significant Learning Environment https://1drv.ms/w/s!Ao2wr1vIYIQ5sCsUaCuP6J6FYxDV?e=FQsGkF Call to Action https://youtu.be/_5hsan0FQy8 ePortfolio Creating and overall eportfolio was very challenging but i got it done. I was givnig the opportunity to make a change and make something better for not only me but other educators, students and parents. It was a choice I had made and was willing to risk it all just to make sure my plan and voice got heard. Thank God I didnt have to put it all on the line and was able to implentment blended learning with station rotation in an up and coming 1st grade classroom. This was not an easy task especially being the fact that most schools I subbed at was on a strict budget and couldnt afford computers, laptop, and or tablets for the students which made it very hard to get them started with blended learning. Creating Significant Learning Environments Course 5313 New Culture of learning Its time to embrace something new especially when it comes to education and teaching our students New Culture of Learning The word learning according to Webster's Online dictionary is defined as (1.) The act or experiencing of one that learns. (2.) Knowledge or skills acquired by instruction or study (Webster). Learning has always been the key in everyday life however since the pandemic of 2019 there was a major shift in learning and a new culture had to be formed to continue giving America’s youth a chance to enhance their learning skills and ability to learn within the new culture. This new culture of learning focuses on letting individuals learn from different environments that don't focus on a particular system as a form of learning more so having the freedom to learn. This paper aims to analyze how the new culture of learning will impact the lives of not only students who are our focus, but teachers, and parents as well. According to Thomas & Brown (n. d), the new culture of learning is mainly focused on individuals learning from their own experience in their new quest of learning from their past experiences while gaining new knowledge and experiences from their peers. The new culture of learning embraces learning, growing, and exploring different ways to help individuals learn from each other through learning environments that are fun and easy to learn in. The new learning culture has two fundamental ideas one which is a massive information network that provides unlimited access and resources that you will be able to learn just about anything and the second one is a bounded and structured environment that provides unlimited agency to build and experiment only within those boundaries. To bring both fundamentals together a system must be formed so that one fundamental can feed off the other forming a massive network of information linked in one place. Being able to have unlimited access to multiple forms of resources can and will help the bounded and structural environment be more open to new ideas and new ways of getting valuable information when it comes to learning. In order to bring both fundamentals together I will first have to get my organization to not be afraid of change. So many who have been in the educational system for numerous years have a hard time making and embracing new change because they are so used to going by the book and the book has led them to having a fixed mindset. But with the new culture of learning individuals will be able to leave behind the fixed mindset and expand into the growth mindset which will allow them to take on any and every obstacle thrown their way. The main challenge when it comes to implementing my innovation plan within my current organization is school budgeting. Our funds are so low that not only can our district not afford enough computers, but the budget for teachers and Substitutes are decreasing as well. Once we can overcome that small bump on the road, we are then faced with getting everyone on board with embracing the new change which is transitioning from traditional learning to blended learning. “Embracing change means looking forward to what will come next” (Thomas & Brown p.43). Realizing and recognizing that the old way of learning is not capturing the attention and hearts of our students and causing them to fail. There used to be a time when school admins would communicate with their teachers and students well that just doesn’t happen anymore. Capturing the hearts and attention of students will give us as educators better results when it comes to them learning, as well as giving them the freedom to say how they feel which will not only allow students to be more open but for them to be able to receive and retain information given. To address these drastic changes of embracing new changes within my organization I will use all resources available to me to get my organization on my side and realizing that change is good. Bringing forth data showing them how bad our students have suffered by going through the pandemic and results showing how far they have come without blended learning. The results are not good. Since the pandemic most students came back to school failing, not knowing how to read, no social skills, no communication skills, and on top of all that some students had to deal with abuse from their parents. No way a child should have to endure that kind of pain and suffering. Without getting our students to a good standing academic level we will continually fail them. Data is one way to get the team on board and the other is just jumping straight to it. Because it doesn’t hurt to try. You fail and then you try again. Once we have implemented blended learning into the school/classroom we can begin to let our students explore learning in a different way by creating their own way of learning through play, passion, and imagination, something we as adults have seemed to have forgotten since becoming adults. We’ve taken the fun out of everything, especially when it comes to the educational school system. “Learning that is driven by passion and play is poised to significantly alter and extend our ability to think, innovate, and discover in ways that have not been previously possible” (Thomas & Brown p.89). Switching to blended learning will be a challenge within itself but to help get others on board I must be able to see past all the negativity and look for positivity within my organization by building teacher/student relationships, giving encouraging words, giving the subject my full undivided attention, being able to focus on one goal at a time, being aware, having a clear vision as well as clear mindset, building effective learning communities, All things listed is a start to get the individuals in my organization to start thinking broadly in a massive networking environment. An environment that not only can you learn from the system but also by forming peer to peer community groups so everyone can help one another. In my honest opinion, I do feel that my perspective is indeed broad enough to influence my learning philosophy and actions of my innovation plan reasonings being that this is new to my current organization and at this point they are open to helping our educational system become better than what it currently is which is continuing to fail our children and my district is tired. I believe I have the voice and the school behind me to move forward with transiting from traditional learning to blended learning while giving our students hope for the future. Helping them change their mindset one student at a time. In conclusion, what’s really stopping us from going back to how we used to learn which was through play, passion, and imagination? What has changed our educational system and how can we get back? We can get it back through the New Culture of Learning minus the standard way of learning. We will embrace our new culture by adding play and passion back into our organization which will allow students to be students that are willing and ready to learn because now learning will be fun. The students will be willing to engage more in classroom activities while learning in the process without realizing that they are really learning. Which is what the new culture of learning is all about. “Play provides the opportunity to leap, experiment, fail, and continue to play with different outcomes (Thomas & Brown p.98). The new culture of learning embraces learning, growing, and exploring different ways to help individuals learn from each other and through learning environments that are fun to learn in. I’ve had the opportunity to relook over my innovation plan and get a better understanding of how I can better help the students I come in contact with as a substitute teacher. In this guide, Fink (2003) writes, “In order to teach well, one must be competent in both course design and teacher-student interactions”; which is indeed important because it aims to empower and connect learners to what they are learning. This approach goes hand in hand with my innovation plan as it aims to encourage not only me as a teacher but the students as well. Bringing forth more value, choice, ownership, and voice to the learners. In order to create a significant learning environment, we must first look at the alignments of our outcomes, assessment, and activities. These 3 components play a major role in connecting the dots, creating a road map to success. To algin these outcomes, assessments, and activities, first you must take a look at the situations that are happening in the classroom. The nature of the classroom, how the students learn, how the teacher delivers instructions to students. The next step is to dig deeper into the learning goals. What is the knowledge you want to cover? What is the application, integration, human dimension, caring, and learning how to learn goals? Fink’s guide helped me get a clear understanding of what I wanted my unit of instruction to look like and I was able to create a 3-column table design to give a layout of my learning goals, assessment activities, and learning activities. The unit I selected to cover is getting students to expand their learning abilities through digital learning. I started of with a Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) and extended the goal to get better results in helping the students stay active when it comes to them learning while focusing on keeping the outcomes, assessment activities, and learning activities aligned. The Process of planning outcomes and creating a 3-column table has impacted my innovation plan in a positive way. Being able to connect and meet the students where they are while leaving a huge impact on how they learn as learners. Moving forward this planning guide will continue to force me to push forward in making sure the students I come in contact with be able to reach their full potential as learners. 3 Column Chart Here you will find the 3 column chart which gives you a road map of how I will continue encourage students i come in contact with through digital learning. Click View More to see chart in Larger size View More References: Fink, D. The UbD consists of 3 stages of planning STAGE 1: the instructor looks at the goals, understanding while creating essential questions and objections for the lesson. This stage sets the tone for the lesson allowing and giving the student time to be able to do and understand the lesson by the end of instruction. STAGE 2: focuses on the evidence and performance task. Giving and allowing the students to show what they have learned similar to show and tell mastering what was learned from the first stage while making sure the goals and assessments are aligned properly. STAGE 3: the ultimate plan and final stage maps out each individual activity that the learner has participated in allowing the student to achieve desired outcomes and results of lesson. The learning plan includes an acronym, WHERTO, which indicates each activity’s importance to the lesson. STAGE 1- DESIRED RESULTS ESTABLISHED GOAL (s): Students will understand the importance of Implementing Blended Learning into current curriculum. 1A: Students are expected to create their own way of learning. (COVA) 1D: Students will collaborate with peers. UNDERSTANDING (s) Students will understand what blended learning is. Students will understand that blended learning will allow them to still learn without an instructor present. Students will understand the importance of working collaboratively. Students will understand they have a choice. ESSENTIAL QUESTION (s) What is Blended Learning? What is face to face learning? How are you able to take ownership over how you learn? Why forming a learning community is important? What is COVA? STUDENTS OBJECTIVES (OUTCOMES) STUDENTS WILL KNOW: Students will know why blended learning is needed. Students will know why COVA is important Students will know the importance of working with peers. Students will know the difference between face-to-face learning and blended learning. Students will know the steps to creating own learning community. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: Students will be able to create own learning community. Students will be able to solve problems within learning community. Students will be able to help one another (Peers helping Peers) STAGE 2- ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE PERFORMANCE TASKS: Students will work collaboratively with peer learning community to create a learning game that will help them learn more effectively. Self-assessment on project. Taking ownership of learning ability. OTHER EVIDENCE: Skill Check, Overview of what has been learned. Quizzes. Observation of effective collaboration group Written assessment, describing how working with peer learning community benefited overall learning experience. Providing samples of work. STUDENT SELF-ASSESSMENT AND REFLECTION: Self-access what has been learned. Reflect on objectives and goals. Now vs. Then. What has been learned. STAGE 3- LEARNING PLAN AND EXPERIENCES LEARNING ACTIVITIES: Begin with a video that shows the student different ways of learning, hooking the attention of the students. H Introduce the essential questions and discuss what each student will be creating (performance tasks). W Ongoing practice and skills through out lesson. E Quizzes over material learned (review) E2 Students will learn and practice new computer terms. E Demonstrate computer skills learned. E Presents own lesson. E Show how authentic learning can be beneficial. E Students reflect on difference between face-to-face learning and blended learning. R Students will showcase skills, putting video together to create own learning game. E2 Students will create a KWL chart about how they think/know they shall learn and what the actually know about learning. Students will then share with their peer group learning community. T Students will rethink and revised what they have learned. R Students will personalize and create their own way of learning and receiving information learned. T Students will organize their own learning communities 2-3 members. O Students will collaborate within those groups to create choice. E Both the UbD template and the 3-column table start with a larger picture of what the ultimate goal for the learner is as well as a guide for the instructor to work backwards while developing the lesson that will be provided to the students. Looking at the UbD template, it requires a lot more details than the 3-column table, the UbD has a narrower focus on a specific goal and is intended to prevent activity and coverage-based lesson where the learners receive direct instructions whereas the 3-column table design requires looking into the nature of the classroom, characteristics of the teacher and learner, knowing background knowledge of the intended audience. Giving the chance to create both sets of lessons plan I can realize that each approach is different and is for two totally different situations. The 3-column table in my opinion will work better in a semester long unit the details of the 3-column table give extra time to a teacher who has already established the bigger picture and the ultimate goal of the learner similar to a refresher course. The UbD template is ideal for a brand-new teacher who just got on the scene of teaching because it focuses more on essential questions, objectives, and the learning plan giving the new teacher a broader opportunity to get started in their new career. Personally, I like both approaches and plan to use both to finish creating my innovation plan. Both of these lesson design approaches have impacted my approach on how I will continue to create a significant learning environment and community for the students I come in contact with. I have become more aware that having different approaches where I the teacher is learning and so are the students it’s just more beneficial when you have more than one approach since everyone learns differently. Being able to create a 3-column table as well as the UbD template I am now able to see a clearer/bigger picture as I continue to build my innovation plan. Through both lessons I was able to design and create activities that will be beneficial when getting both the district and its students to understand the importance of incorporating blended learning into the current curriculum which is indeed beneficial for the new culture of learning making sure our students get the best education possible which is the main focus of my innovation plan. Moving forward I plan to continue to use Fink’s 3-column table as well as UbD to help get my innovation plan in the right hands so that our students will be ready for whatever life throws at them. It has come to my attention that the majority of our students are stuck with having a fixed mindset and it is causing them not to be as productive as they should be while here at Houston Elementary. This proposal was created in regard to helping current and future students in our school district become better learners while helping to develop their minds in a positive way and implementing the growth mindset in each child. The purpose for this new proposal is to get everyone one board when it comes to helping our students be the best, they can be in all that they do whether it's in school, at home, or life in general. In order to make sure our students get on the right track and stay on the right track we will need everyone to get involved and on board such as the teachers, parents, and most importantly the students who are also the targeted audience for this our Growth Mindset Plan Proposal. It will take all of us to make sure the plan works accordingly so that every student can and will be successful in the evening during tough times Implementing a growth mindset is important because it gives you as the educator an opportunity to change how the student can take something that was negative and turn it into something positive by incorporating the four steps to changing a fixed mindset. These four steps not only can help our students but our teachers as well by giving them the extra help in areas that can and will clog the mind causing the brain to shut down because you felt it was too hard, so you stopped trying. Learn to recognize your fixed mindset voice, recognize that you have a choice, talk back to that voice with a growth mindset, Take the growth mindset action. Following these four simple steps will help anyone that has a fixed mindset transfer their mindset into a growth mindset which are actions required to have a successful outcome when it comes to helping to get to a growth mindset. A push that is needed to help you as an individual move forward within your educational studies or daily life routines. Currently I am an Associate Teacher with a full class 3rd grade classroom. Since being in the class I have gotten a chance to get to know each one of the students. No child is alike, they all have different personalities, and different ways on how they retrieve information. During read out loud time I have each student read one to three lines just to see how they read. When other students try to make fun of the student who is having trouble, I simply let them know it's not fun to try and make fun of someone who is willing and ready to learn instead of laughing at them and helping them say the words instead. Beating someone down while they have the will to learn and ready to learn can cause any person to shut down regardless of their age. This is how I get my students to understand the power of yet. Just because someone doesn't have in at this moment doesn't mean they won't get it, it's just not their time yet but when that time comes, they will be ready and will recognize that in due time. In conclusion, I feel that as an Associate Teacher within the district that we should as a team get this proposal pushed not only for us as educators but for our students and their parents to switch over from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset and it will overall change the way we think. Thank you for your time. Sincerely Eddricka King Growth Mindset Plan Revision One of the most important components for developing a significant learning environment is the continuous support from a dedicated yet loyal teacher who is willing to teach and give the student the ultimate support when it comes to how they learn and take in the information that is giving. With revisiting the Growth Mindset Plan that I created back in course EDLD 5302, I begin to think back how it all got started and why I felt the school I was previously at needed a change in helping future students obtain a growth mindset. When it comes to how I can help the learners I come in contact with develop a growth mindset well I’m only an associate teacher but, the students that I’ve come in contact with I try my best to leave them with something they can learn from and take with them throughout their learning journey no matter who the child is or how they learn I still do my part which is helping them learn how to get out of a fixed mindset and develop a growth mindset. This has been quite the task but the first thing I do is listening to them, sometimes all kids want is for someone to listen to them. Teachers should be able to step up and step in place as coaches and mentors that are up for the challenge realizing that change is needed, and it must first start with you (the teacher). The plan I created goes through and over the importance of a growth mindset and promoting it to the students currently in school. During the time of creating my Growth mindset plan I was reading Carol Dweck’s book, Mindset and I was over thrilled about what I had learned within the book as well as the takeaway that I can implement into students I come in contact with even if it’s for a brief moment. And yes, will require doing some work since I’m only one person. Yes, it takes a team (teachers) to raise the village (students) or anyone willing and ready to learn since things like this doesn’t happen overnight. Other factors that need to be considered includes developing teaching learning communities so that all teachers are on the same page or nearby. Having everyone on the same page will help the process move along. The power of yet plays a major role in getting or students on the level of learning that they should be on and that’s by telling them it ok that you don’t get it yet, but you will sound familiar well it is. I have concluded that telling a student that simple phrase will keep the encouraged and wanting to learn more as well as keeping their brains wondering what this teacher will try next basically keeping these students on their toes. Something this generation of students need some one to stay on them and push them to become better. To prevent the growth mindset from becoming a thing just faded into the background, I say we as teachers have to take the lead since our district have been so slow with getting things together and makes absolutely no sense. I know some districts are having trouble with funding which is causing a huge conflict as to how the schools are being ran but that shouldn’t interfere with how the students are learning another big issue are the students’ parents not staying on top of things and it has gotten worse. Having and getting our students to obtain a solid growth mindset is indeed a good start and is enough. Having a growth mindset means you never stop growing when it comes to learning something new, even if your wrong you find a way to make it right by correcting yourself at the time you see a flaw, then you work on it so next time they’ll be no flaws in that area, keeping yourself motivated by any means necessary while taking control over your ability to learn. A growth mindset in my opinion first starts with the self. The real question: Is the self-ready to be independent and learn by any means? Once you can answer that question, you’ll be ready for anything because the mind will be able to take on anything. Reference: Dweck, C.S. (2006): Mindset: The new psychology od sucess. Reference Page: Contribution to my Learning Just like last semester this school year caught me off guard with so much going on in my out of school life I thought I would get somewhat of a break but that was a lie, and the truth was no where to be found. After pulling myself together I came to grips that I’m still a college student and in order to graduate I must first go through and pass all courses needed for graduation. This semester I’m taking 1 course. I have realized in the past that 1 course is better for me to be able to focus a little better. Going into this course I semi knew what was coming but didn’t know it would be me having to create and present my own online course. It was indeed a challenge but with the help of my learning community and watching videos from YouTube University I was able to put my fears aside and get the job done. I went through many websites and tutorials to see which source would be more beneficial. Going over with my group members and receiving feedback and feedforward from them made me want to push harder and aim higher and I did just that. In creating this course, I learned so many new techniques that are making my course better as time continues to go on. Just like Dr.H, said many semesters ago “you must trust the process”. This semester I was a little nervous at first to join a new learning community, but I believe I was led to this group of women for a reason, and I appreciate them dearly for allowing me to be a part of something so magnificent. Group member included Lorena Guzman, Brandy Dinkins, Christine Glenn, Jenny Howard, and my self Eddricka King aka (Dricka King) according to GroupMe lol. Once a week we got together on Wednesday at 7pm via Zoom and had group meeting just going over weekly assignment, discussions to make sure we were headed in the right direction. Our daily meetings were done via GroupMe just in case anything was missed during our online meet. I am very proud to say I got rid of my nervousness and got down to business once again every semester I try to better than the last. I got off to a rocky start but the ending results and with the help of my group members guiding me along the way I was able to once again succeed plus I don’t look like what I’ve been through, and I am grateful for that. For course 5318 I rate myself 96/100 Even though all components were met I still ran into a one hiccup where I forgot to add my references to my websites what a simple mistake. This mistake was caught by Lorena Guzman I am so glad she had time to look over my site and give me this feedback and right on time too so grateful. If I can’t put my best foot forward, I don’t want to put any foot forward at all. This semester was amazing I’m super excited for the next course. Going so hard my first semester back in school soon made me realize that being a full-time single mom who works 2 jobs just to make ends meet, have own business and doing two online classes was defiantly pushing it and doing too to much. During this semester I had many bumps and construction going on in my life with two of my close friends losing their parents back-to-back to other bs life threw at me. I was fortunate to have to take only one class this time second term. By this course being the third course of grad school, I have put my pride aside and realized that I will not make it in these courses if I don’t start talking to other colleagues who are taking the same courses. I’ve found it very helpful this semester how powerful it is to have a learning community in any career that you make have. Seeing that I couldn’t make it by myself in school this semester I promised myself to give it my all while learning from my colleagues. After having such a difficult time finding a group to collaborate with in one of my first classes I made it my job to reach out to the group, I was in from my other course so we could get a head start on meetings, books, and other learning materials that would be of great assistance for these upcoming classes. Since being in the program I have gained so much more knowledge in this short amount of time just by being a part of a learning community. The learning community that I am a member of consist of 5 others we all just stuck together after our first two courses together and I am so glad we did. Being able to share ideas, through zoom/team meetings every Wednesday at 7pm has been outstanding and last more than an hour. There were a few members of my learning community taking two classes this semester. I love the fact that as a group we decided to let those members have their meeting about their other class. Just hearing them talk about the work and the course itself made me also realize I did good with dropping that class lol. I mean I still must take it but not now more like in January, so I have a few more months to prep. Being apart of this learning community has taught me that no matter how well you may know something, there’s always someone who knows a little bit more about the subject than you do, and you can learn from others. Our group meetings could be started by any member in our group. Usually, the day before our meetings I would send out a reminder text or a text asking if we where still meeting. To me that job was important because now I felt apart of something and felt like why not reach out who is it going to hurt. It will probably hurt more if you don’t ask. And I’m so glad I did because sometimes it just takes that one and that one was me this time. Before taking these courses, we had never met, and it really seems like we’ve been knowing one another way before grad school. The bond that we have is amazing and I’m extremely happy to be a part of such a dynamic learning environment. Coming in with more knowledge of what needed to be done to be successful in this course has allowed me to open up give and receive helpful feedback/feedforward. With me stepping out the box this semester and fulfilling my promise to myself I have to give myself a grade of 89 for going above and beyond this semester I can honestly can say I have did the damn thang this go round. I'm truthfully proud of myself for stepping out get feedback allowing others to give me feedforward help has been wonderful Like 0 comments 0 Ms. King Dec 02, 2021 Why use an Eportfolio? Class 5303 Honestly now that I am back in school having an portfolio is one of the best things I could have gotten they really come in handy. Especially when it comes to keeping up with all your work an assignments. Being brought up doing everything by hand and having to file papers or keep up with loose papers has now become a thing of the past since almost everything has become digital. Technology has made it so much easier, we now have mini computers at the tip of our fingertips (our phones). Instead of writing things you need to do on pieces of paper you can now create a note in your phone and check off everything that needs to be done and the phone will track it for you. Eportfolios are used overall to digitally record the students learning through out their educational learning experience, giving one time to reflect on what you have accomplished through out your educational experiences as well as the cooperate world. Its a way to collect and reflect on your work, showcase achievements, create study and work plans. Its basically your OWN space a space you have created just for you and for you to be able to share with others if you choose. Creating an Eportfolio for grad school has been such a tremendous help for me allowing me to record and keep information needed for future dates all in one place. I am still learning how to setup different tabs and blogs which as become a challenge but not bad enough to say I give up....oh no that's not in me Like 0 comments 0 Forum - Frameless Grad School: Forum

Disruptive Innovation in Technology 5305 Innovation Propsal 09.11.2021 Eddricka King Houston ISD 123 Houston Dr. Houston, Texas 77004 Mr. Estes Principal of Houston Elem. 123 Houston Lane Houston, Texas 77004 Hello Principal Estes, Thank you for giving me this great opportunity to bring forward a brand-new educational program for our students here at Houston Elem. This new program will allow every child within our school district to be able to receive learning experiences that will help them within the school as well as in their adult life. The purpose of my proposal is to get schools grade levels K-12 Board District Administration, as well as educators to understand the importance of our students having computers in the classroom while introducing Blended Learning into the teacher’s curriculum. Not having computers within the classroom is a hindrance to our children/students. The 2020 pandemic showed us that in more ways than one. Not only did Coronavirus shut down corporate America, but it also shut down our school system and forced all students to go to school online since face to face was out of the question. During this time, we as teachers had to jump in to help those in need most of our students didn’t own a computer let alone know how to turn one on. Pre-k 3 to kindergarten had to either watch school on the HISD school channel or the parents could help them at home with a homework packet. Which I know was very difficult for those parents who had to work to take care of home. The students here at Houston Elem will benefit from the Not done Yet K-12 Computer Blended Learning program by getting much needed help inside the classroom through different learning games that will help to create their own how to learning games for free through different websites designed to help you create your own learning game at no cost. Each individual student will benefit because this program will bring back lost confidence, allow the student to become self-motivated, a self-starter, ready to learn, and staying focused. Currently at Houston Elem I have the privilege to assist many students. Currently I’m with 3rd grade science and from being with the students for over a month I have gotten a chance to see the students' learning capabilities. By seeing what the students are facing has allowed me to be able to analyze each student and see what areas they are weak and strong in when it comes to how they learn. My conclusion is that these students here at Houston Elem need different ways to retrieve how they learn. We already know every child has a different way of how they understand and take in information. This new implement will be such a huge help because not only will it relieve some pressure from the students mind but, it will also give them a chance to see change in their current study habits while fixing them before the student can move forward to the next lesson. It will also be a big help for each teacher giving them time to interact with the other students. The idea I have for this proposal involves the students' class life with a mixture of building confidence. This program will lead each student to have better study habits online/at home. This program will also allow these students to have fun while learning. When it comes to time, no time will be lost because each child will be given 20 minutes of in class computer time to get comfortable with computers. While the first three students are on the computer, the other students will be split into collaboration groups and workstations such as Computer time, Work-study station, Bank station, Library station while learning how to work through modules in a timely manner. Each station will give the students a taste of the real world. Each teacher will be responsible for how they want to implement “Not Done Yet” into their current curriculum. Handbooks will be given out to assist each teacher with the new program. When it comes to our budget for this new program our school already has desktop computers which will need to be set up in the classroom with the appropriate virus protection and firewalls to keep the students off unwanted sites. Other than downloading the free how to build your website app that is all that will be needed for the program. Our project goals and objectives are for each student to leave better than they came with a growth mindset. It will take approximately 3 months to test the new student improvement project. This program will truly help all our current students as well as our future students. I personally think I would be the perfect person to implement this new program to our school in hopes that it gives our students and future students the knowledge to succeed and be successful in all that they do not just school. Thank you for your time Principal Estes Eddricka King Associate Teacher Literature Review Eddricka King Disruptive Innovation in Technology EDLD 5305 Dr. D. Harapnuik September 19, 2021 The Pandemic of 2020 taught us as a nation how important the use of technology really is. This new generation of students are considered to be technology babies as hard as it is to believe technology has become the base of how we go about our daily lives. From our phones, to social media, to sending a simple email are all forms of ways how we are using technology. Technology has grown so rapidly in the past recent years that we cant run away from it but instead we need to embrace these changes and apply them as they come especially when it comes to the way our students are learning. After going through months and months of virtual learning, and realizing how important it is for our students to be well rounded. Implementing blended learning in our now traditional learning will help our students become well rounded not only in their school life but outside of school as well. Adding blended learning to the curriculum will not only be successful for the learners but the teachers as well. This Literature Review will look at why digital learning is needed, implementing blended learning into the current curriculum, how blended learning will benefit the students learning capabilities, and how to keep the students motivated while ready and willing to learn. Looking Back…. Switching from face to face learning to online learning during the 2020 Pandemic was a rough transition for the majority of the school districts throughout the State of Texas. Being in the district this past year has been an eye opener for the district's administration, instructors, parents, and most importantly the students. Most students in poor districts were unable and didn’t have access to computers or the internet during the time COVID hit, which caused the districts to step in and provide computers with internet access so that students would not miss out on their work. Teaching and learning during the time of COVID was very difficult and studies show that even though students were given access to computers they were not completing the work. Due to not having face to face interaction, home life, low motivation, difficulty reading and understanding, just a numerous of things that could cause the students not to succeed in their studies. (Means and Neisler, 2021). At home life became different for entire families because COVID had caused many shutdowns across the nation, not just in schools but jobs as well. If you were not an essential worker you could not work and was asked to stay inside during lockdown. Which caused high tension because now parents had to take on the role of not only their child/ren home life but school life as well. Parents were not only parents but full time teachers. Who had to continue working to provide for home while teaching their students. COVID caused a major delay in education and learning. Everyone knows that when a child turns 4 they are ready for school. School is the place where all children go to be taught basic educational learning skills such as math, reading, science, and social studies. Parents sent their students to school to get face to face learning plus more and when face to face learning was no longer available during COVID students and parents slipped into depression. With COVID shutting down schools the place where students felt safe, could escape from abuse from home, or whatever the student faced caused students to disengage, not completing work assigned, not logging in for class and since parents had to work most were not paying attention to their students and the students had to fin for themselves causing grades to slip tremendously. (Swaby, 2020). With everything going on around us it will be best that all instructors, parents, and students be introduced to blended learning in the classroom. What is Blended Learning? According to the Oxford Dictionary Definition Of Blended Learning: a style of education in which students learn via electronic and online media as well as traditional face-to-face teaching “integrate online with traditional face-to-face class activities in a planned, pedagogically valuable manner.” (TeachThought). When implementing blended learning, take into consideration that blended learning has several parts and all parts give online learning and the learners a new look and is easy to understand.a) Part online – online learning with some element of student control and flexibility over the way they learn including the time, place, pace and the path they take. b) Part away from home – in part or in combination of a brick and mortar location away from home (instruction at a physical classroom/school or on-campus). c) Through a learning path – a personalized learning path that offers students the opportunity to learn through activities that capitalize on different learning modalities. (Raouna, 2021). As the classroom begins to change from traditional learning to online learning Blended learning plays a major role in getting students prepared for the switch making it an easier approach to help the learners better understand the assignment, more flexible giving the students more independent learning at their own pace. When it comes to their learning and their ability to learn, leads to creating learning experiences, finding methods that cater to their personal needs, while helping reduce cost for the school which can help the school use funding for other things the school may need. This will also give freedom to the instructor to be able to assist other students in need of assistance. Not only will students benefit, so will the instructors and the parents of each student. Benefit #1 Flexibility, Benefit #2 Effectiveness, Benefit #3 Personalization, Benefit #4 Greater Reach, Benefit #5 Reduced Cost. (Raouna, 2021). Since every student has a different way that they obtain information it might be difficult at first to transition to blended learning from traditional learning because traditional has been the educational system go to and it has brought us along way. But after facing so many hardships from COVID-19 blended learning is a necessity that needs to be set in place for things such as this and when there is another mandatory lockdown the educational system will be ahead of the game. Making Learning Better? Learning up till this point has not been fun and not keeping the students attention very long. Matter of fact it gets boring and causes most children to fall asleep in class which then causes the student to miss out on important information needed to help with classroom assignments and grades. In order to make learning better for students instructors must create positive relationships. Creating positive relationships between instructors and students will allow the students to be able to open up and communicate more. Being in the classroom has allowed me to observe majority of my students, as i glance around for a read outloud assignment the same 5 students raise their hands to be called on and the rest of the students sit in silence praying that you don’t call them to read. And it should not be this way students should have more confidence when it comes to learning. Increasing communication skills will result in the ability for each student to be able to connect better with their instructors, peers, self, and parents on a daily basis. The fear of communication will be no more because students will feel better about speaking up while participating in classroom activities. Building educational bonds with your students can be life changing for the student in more ways than one. (Cress, 2003). Once you have a bond built you will be able to get the students to the level you know they are capable of getting to and they will listen to you as their instructor. Next, it's time to make learning fun while keeping the students attention which can be difficult when you have a classroom with 22 kids but, with adding blended learning to the current curriculum the instructors will be able to attend to all students without being overwhelmed, something that a lot of instructors are experiencing which is not having enough time to get through the entire lesson because of having to stop for a few students so they can catch up while others students have already completed one assignment ready to head to another but cant do to other students who don't move at the same pace. (Collinison, Cook, 2001). Blended Learning will be super helpful when it comes to making learning fun, not only does blended learning cover face to face it also covers learning from a computer device that can help with each student's social skills, building relationships, all while learning the lesson provided for the day/week. Blended Learning will also have a positive effect on the way each student obtains information. Making learning fun will have students more engaged when it comes to paying attention, learning, and making activities that are suitable for the age group in which you are instructing. (Chu, 2015). Having fun while learning helps students hold information better. Students need more than one opportunity to apply their learning skills. When teachers create a fun learning environment students gravitate to fun things. Really it's all about being a kid and enjoying learning while participating in classroom activities and taking risks.(Fishel, 2020). Adding games to learning will not only give students a new way to learn but also keep them wanting more. Creating educational games suitable for phones and computers will have the students talking not only to the instructors, but with their friends about their scores, and will be more than excited to inform their parents of their new process when it comes to them learning and retaining information needed to help the student move further in their education. Since this new generation of children are so advanced in technology, coming up with a technology game that involves learning will help them be ready and willing to learn. (Prensky, 2002). Since the students are now willing and ready to learn they are no longer in a fixed mindset but a growth mindset. Because they are pushing aside all that could not go right for something that is right and can benefit them in their studies. Maintaining a growth mindset can be tricky but with the right tools the students will be well on their way to keeping a growth mindset while on their educational journey. To maintain a growth mindset you must recognize that you have control, focus on how far you've come. In order to keep students on the right track the instructor must have a growth mindset in order to keep the student positive and help keep them on the right track. According to Dweck, “ when teachers are judging them, students will sabotage teachers and themselves by not trying. When students understand that school is for them and will help them to grow their minds without sabotage, they start caring. “(Dweck, C. 2006.) Current Curriculum! Currently, the school district is having a hard time keeping teachers who are willing to work with the students. It has gotten so bad the schools are so short staffed thet substitutes teachers have to be called in to fill those voids. But instructors are not being paid properly and the school districts have a strict way of how they prefer the school to be run, and how they want the teachers to teach. Which is by the traditional way causing conflict with new ways to better the school and the students that attend the schools. Right now the schools are being run by the state who has continued to not get the right help needed for students to get the proper education that they deserve which makes it hard to teach the students basic education but instead teaching the students standardized tests. Teachers are getting burned out because they have to follow the rules when it comes to promoting the student to the next grade. This is something that has been happening prior to COVID 19, and no one has put a stop to it. Once teachers are all burned out who will be in attendance to assist the children? (Kotherja, 2013). In Conclusion…. Not only will students benefit from implementing blended learning but so will the parents, and teachers as well. As a teacher yes it is hard to maintain what it is that the district is requiring you to maintain but at the end of the day its about allowing those who are willing and ready to move forward from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset all we can do is try Works Cited Page Chu, S. The pandemic crisis of 2020 showed us just how important having the use of blended learning in the school system was/is. So many students across the state of Texas missed basically a year worth of educational learning because the students were used to face-to-face learning. Not having face-to-face learning for that short amount of time caused a huge decrease in grades for the majority of the students across the nation especially here in Texas and within our low-income school district. Some of the reasons students grades dropped was because most students did not own a computer, have internet access, not used to online learning and were just thrown in the position without proper training. Goal: To work with school officials, principals, teachers, and parents in order to help and make sure each student in low-income school districts are equipped with computers with built in hotspots, materials, and proper training needed to help our students transition from traditional face-to-face learning to adding blended learning into the students curriculum. Blended learning will give the students freedom to learn via electronic and online media as well as traditional face-to-face teaching (Oxford, 2021). With adding blended learning students will not skip a beat when it comes to their educational learning. Not only will it keep students on track but it will also be a huge help to teachers while keeping parents involved in their child/children education via computer, phone devices. Timeline: Phase 1 August 2021- Create an Innovation proposal, video, and literature review and have them revised. In my opinion, I believe students that are in better schools located in better areas have a much greater advantage when it comes to receiving funding for certain programs and supplies for that particular school. Being a substitute has allowed me to work in different school districts and based on my observation students in richer school districts are more equipped with so many more resources to help with their learning process than students in poor school districts with less funding. Before beginning this program, I thought it would be simple but soon learned it takes many steps to get others to change their behaviors and no it doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a journey a long journey. The Influencer Model focuses on personal, social, and behavioral motivations while the 4DX Model breaks down how to make it happen. For the most part I know that getting others to change can be a very hard task but with knowing that our low-income school district need help I know we can get it done. Not as an individual but as a team of leaders who want to see change in our schools and mostly for our students to have a higher success rate within our communities. Helping them get the resources will help get them to that level and without resources we are left in shambles. Remember NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND and that goes for low-income school district as well. With the proper influence (myself) we can start something great. Read More Crucial Conversations A discussion between two or more where (1) stakes are high, (2) opinions vary, and (3) emotions run strong Patterson., Grenny., McMillan., & Switzler. (2012). Crucial Conversations. McGraw Hill. 7 Steps Crucial Conversation Who really wants to have a Crucial conversation? NO ONE……… But having crucial conversations are actually very important and allow one to be able to lay it all on the line no matter how tough things may get. As a leader of any organization, you and your team will eventually have to have one of these conversations, will you like it? Probably not but, it will help the organization become better as a whole (One band One sound). Not just organizations but relationships as well. In order to have crucial conversations there are a few key factors that will need to address to become a self-differentiated leader the first is to make sure that everyone feels safe in the environment (building dialogue) and the other is to learn to look (controlling negative emotions) Not letting the stakes run high, gaining control. Using these key factors will help to make decisions needed for any organization that’s having troubles coming to an overall solution. After reading Crucial Conversations I now see how everything that this course offers ties it all together on how to become a Self-differenated Leader rather in an organization type setting or just a conversation with your sister. Having a crucial conversation is all about the dialogue you use when having a conversation. Thinking back to a few conversations I’ve had I know now after reading the book that I could’ve handled some of those conversations so much better and maybe I would’ve gotten different results. How you talk to someone means a lot, especially if you’re trying to get this person or group of people to change. After having a self-reflection, I realize there’s things that I need to work on to become a self-differentiated leader within my organizations. First by starting with the heart. For my innovation plan I would like to see low-income school districts be able to provide computers for all students to take home to be able to start transition from traditional classroom to blended learning classrooms and right now that’s not the district main problem, so it has just gotten swept under the road. Until the system gets fixed the children will suffer. I would like to have crucial conversation about the matter, but this is only a small portion of the district’s problems. In all honesty by continuing this degree program, I know I will be able to gain the strengths and confidence I need to present my innovation plan to the board members on how important this matter is not only for the teachers but the students as well. And I plan on using the tools and strategies for having crucial conversations. Just to name a few: Avoid making sucker choices, learning to look, Making the environment safe, Contrasting and apply skills learned and most importantly starting with the heart. Reference: Grenny, J., Patterson, K., McMillan, R., Switzler, A., & Gregory, E. (2021b). Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes are High, Second Edition (2nd ed.). McGraw Hill. Contribution to my learning Kicked this semester off with 1 class which was great because after reading over the upcoming class schedule I knew all 10 finger and 10 toes had to be on board and that 5304 would have me moving around especially when it came to the readings and books, I would need to complete this semester. Overall, I pushed all that doubt to the side and dove straight into the pool headfirst (Scary) but I’ve managed to stay in the game and put my best foot forward at all times no matter if in fact I do mess up. Which I did and its ok because as I always say is not how you start but how you finish. Long as you keep your head in the game you can’t lose. Having a learning community of colleagues was a huge blessing and something that I have looked forward to since being apart of this program. I also know that since being in this program I have met some amazing individuals that all bring different techniques to the table and that is what helps our learning community keep going. For this semester the learning community I was apart of consisted of four people which included James, Monika, Ericka, and myself. Our group met every Thursday@7pm via Zoom/Microsoft Teams. Each meeting was never the same because each assignment was never the same. Our weekly discussion was on point, and everyone got a chance to say or show how the interpret the readings for the week. Being able to communicate, grab notes if class was missed or just to move ahead on future assignments my group members done that and more plus within this program you will need several colleagues to get through. Having a caring team with positive attitudes and encouragement pushed me to go harder. “We started together we finish together no man/woman left behind plus there’s always room for improvement. Being a part of a group, this semester was extremely helpful due to all the unexpected bull crap I faced this semester. It was so many times I wanted to say forget this and just throw in the towel especially after missing my first assignment well turning it in super late. After getting off to a rough start and putting my head back in the game I made it my business to add all group members to our chat as well as make sure we had reminders set up for our weekly meetings. Having those reminders were indeed a great help not just for me but the entire group especially since we all have another life outside of school. This semester I grade myself a score of 78, the reason I give myself this grade is because I let one assignment slip through the cracks because I turned it in late which was totally my fault. I was so devasted, but I got my s*** together and dust the dirt off and went back to work. I quickly learned my lesson and tried my hardest and best not to miss anymore assignments, readings, and continued to stay on top of my class discussions. The biggest lesson I learned this semester was communication not only with my team members but my professor as well. I have really enjoyed 5304 the readings will not only help me with this degree but also how I handle whirlwinds in my daily life. Read More 19 hours ago 3 min ADL Journey/How far have you come?
