Today I am reaching out as a concern for our current and future students within our school district. It has come to my attention that the majority of our students are stuck with having a fixed mindset and it is causing them not to be as productive as they should be while here at Houston Elementary.
This proposal was created in regards to helping current and future students in our school district become better learners while helping to develop their minds in a positive way and implementing the growth mindset in each child. The purpose for this new proposal is to get everyone one board when it comes to helping our students be the best they can be in all that they do whether it's in school, at home, or life in general. In order to mak]e sure our students get on the right track and stay on the right track we will need everyone to get involved and on board such as the teachers, parents, and most importantly the students who are also the targeted audience for this our Growth Mindset Plan Proposal. It will take all of us to make sure the plan works accordingly so that every student can and will be successful in the evening during tough times.
Implementing a growth mindset is important because it gives you as the educator an opportunity to change how the student can take something that was negative and turn it into something positive by incorporating the four steps to changing a fixed mindset. These four steps not only can help our students but our teachers as well by giving them the extra help in areas that can and will clog the mind causing the brain to shut down because you felt it was too hard so you stopped trying. Learn to recognize your fixed mindset voice, Recognize that you have a choice, Talk back to that voice with a growth mindset, Take the growth mindset action. Following these four simple steps will help anyone that has a fixed mindset transfer their mindset into a growth mindset which are actions required to have a successful outcome when it comes to helping getting to a growth mindset. A push that is needed to help you as an individual move forward within your educational studies or daily life routines.
Currently I am an Associate Teacher with a full class 3rd grade classroom. Since being in the class I have gotten a chance to get to know each one of the students. No child is alike, they all have different personalities, and different ways on how they retrieve information. During read out loud time I have each student read one to three lines just to see how they read. When other students try to make fun of the student who is having trouble I simply let them know it's not fun to try and make fun of someone who is willing and ready to learn instead of laughing at them and helping them say the words instead. Beating someone down while they have the will to learn and ready to learn can cause any person to shut down regardless of their age. This is how I get my students to understand the power of yet. Just because someone doesn't have in at this moment doesn't mean they won't get it, it's just not their time yet but when that time comes they will be ready and will recognize that in due time.
In conclusion, I feel that as an Associate Teacher within the district that we should as a team get this proposal pushed not only for us as educators but for our students and their parents to switch over from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset and it will overall change the way we think.
Thank you for your time.

Contrubition to my learning
First enrolling in school I made sure I came in with an open mindset,,,having an open mindset has allowed me to be able to explore and research more on the subject in which I am studying. Being in this program have given me insight on what ADL really is and how it applies to our current educational system and how important it is when coming to learning.
Being able to collaborate with fellow colleagues has been a major and very helpful part of my current learning experience. I have gotten a chance to be apart of an amazing group of other educators who are so passionate about being able to help education become a better learning environment for our students and that alone has been a great experience.
Creating my eportfolio for Class 5302 Concepts of Education has truly been an eye-opener and has allowed me to incorporate the use of COVA without evening knowing what COVA really meant. COVA stands for Choice, Ownership, Voice, and Authentic. With my online portfolio I have had the Choice to create an online site that i have complete ownership of, a place i have created to go and have a voice, a place I can share my ideas and not having to worry about being talked about for how i feel or think because guess what these are my thoughts my digital voice, This portfolio is raw footage from the one and only which makes it authentic. Having this online portfolio plays a major role in my current grad program and by the look of all upcoming classes I am going to continue need, use, and build my portfolio.
Most valuable lesson I have learned thus far in my studies is to not take for granted what I can and can't do. Just keep putting my best foot forward. With not giving up because yes it was a challenge BUT I was able to create my own eportfolio, I also learned how to make a video, post it to YouTube, add pictures and links, things I would rather let a professional do. But with me choosing this field I put aside my fears stayed up and figured it out and when i was done i was so proud of myself.
