- Why use an Eportfolio? In Class 5303·December 2, 2021Honestly now that I am back in school having an portfolio is one of the best things I could have gotten they really come in handy. Especially when it comes to keeping up with all your work an assignments. Being brought up doing everything by hand and having to file papers or keep up with loose papers has now become a thing of the past since almost everything has become digital. Technology has made it so much easier, we now have mini computers at the tip of our fingertips (our phones). Instead of writing things you need to do on pieces of paper you can now create a note in your phone and check off everything that needs to be done and the phone will track it for you. Eportfolios are used overall to digitally record the students learning through out their educational learning experience, giving one time to reflect on what you have accomplished through out your educational experiences as well as the cooperate world. Its a way to collect and reflect on your work, showcase achievements, create study and work plans. Its basically your OWN space a space you have created just for you and for you to be able to share with others if you choose. Creating an Eportfolio for grad school has been such a tremendous help for me allowing me to record and keep information needed for future dates all in one place. I am still learning how to setup different tabs and blogs which as become a challenge but not bad enough to say I give up....oh no that's not in me001
- Contribution my Learning and The Learning CommunityIn Class 5303·December 11, 2021Contribution to my Learning and Learning Community Class 5303 This semester I decided to take it slow. Going so hard my first semester back in school soon made me realize that being a full-time single mom who works 2 jobs just to make ends meet, have own business and doing two online classes was defiantly pushing it and doing too to much. During this semester I had many bumps and construction going on in my life with two of my close friends losing their parents back-to-back to other bs life threw at me. I was fortunate to have to take only one class this time second term. By this course being the third course of grad school, I have put my pride aside and realized that I will not make it in these courses if I don’t start talking to other colleagues who are taking the same courses. I’ve found it very helpful this semester how powerful it is to have a learning community in any career that you make have. Seeing that I couldn’t make it by myself in school this semester I promised myself to give it my all while learning from my colleagues. After having such a difficult time finding a group to collaborate with in one of my first classes I made it my job to reach out to the group, I was in from my other course so we could get a head start on meetings, books, and other learning materials that would be of great assistance for these upcoming classes. Since being in the program I have gained so much more knowledge in this short amount of time just by being a part of a learning community. The learning community that I am a member of consist of 5 others we all just stuck together after our first two courses together and I am so glad we did. Being able to share ideas, through zoom/team meetings every Wednesday at 7pm has been outstanding and last more than an hour. There were a few members of my learning community taking two classes this semester. I love the fact that as a group we decided to let those members have their meeting about their other class. Just hearing them talk about the work and the course itself made me also realize I did good with dropping that class lol. I mean I still must take it but not now more like in January, so I have a few more months to prep. Being apart of this learning community has taught me that no matter how well you may know something, there’s always someone who knows a little bit more about the subject than you do, and you can learn from others. Our group meetings could be started by any member in our group. Usually, the day before our meetings I would send out a reminder text or a text asking if we where still meeting. To me that job was important because now I felt apart of something and felt like why not reach out who is it going to hurt. It will probably hurt more if you don’t ask. And I’m so glad I did because sometimes it just takes that one and that one was me this time. Before taking these courses, we had never met, and it really seems like we’ve been knowing one another way before grad school. The bond that we have is amazing and I’m extremely happy to be a part of such a dynamic learning environment. Coming in with more knowledge of what needed to be done to be successful in this course has allowed me to open up give and receive helpful feedback/feedforward. With me stepping out the box this semester and fulfilling my promise to myself I have to give myself a grade of 89 for going above and beyond this semester I can honestly can say I have did the damn thang this go round. I'm truthfully proud of myself for stepping out get feedback allowing others to give me feedforward help has been wonderful0010
- Connecting and Communicating Innovation PlanIn Class 5305 ·October 16, 2021Based on the 2020 COVID Pandemic our Texas scholol system was hit so hard that adminstration, teacher, parents, nor student were prepared. It just time to give our student a choice to be better through COVA006
- Contribution to my learning and learning community....Class 5305In Class 5305 ·October 15, 2021Being apart of class 5305 has been very helpful to my current learning process. I was extremely nervous about taking 2 courses at once with everything going on in my personal life.....but being apart of a group was the push I needed to keep pushing through. Reaching out and getting fast responses about collaborating was the best. It seemed like everyone was ready to give it their all and put aside BS. I was very fortunate to be apart of such an amazing group that consisted of 6 people total we put aside our busy lives and worked together as a team in order to get assignments complete in a timely manner. Our weekly meeting where held each and every Tuesday at 7pm on teams...the meeting would last 1hr to 1hr and 30mins depending what discussion we were on and the topic. Being apart of this team was amazing, phone time, group chat, emails and just getting down a dirty when it came to our education. No one was assigned to just one job we all shared an equal amount of contributions by sharing video, outlines examples, and so much more. When i take a look back from when I first started to now the end of class i can truly say Ive gained more than i had when i came in. Being able to fix my mindset from being in one place to taking advantage of gaining more knowledge in a subject i knew nothing about gave me the courage to keep going and keep participating in my studies. Grading myself for this class I give myself 44.5 and the reason is because I can honestly say I gave it my best. Leaving this course I have learned how about how important an eportfolio is....hell i even created one its not the best but its mine ohh and I learned how to create a youtube video from different apps giving to me by members of this class. With that little information i was able to not only do the assignments for 5305 but 5302 as well and now i am honestly happy i enrolled in two classes one helped me with both. Win Win009
- Contribution to my learning and learning community.....Class 5302In Class 5302 ·October 15, 2021Being apart of class 5302 has really been an extreme challenge for me. I feel it could have went much smoother if i was able to be apart of a group. I reached out more than once and was unable to get in a collaborative group to be able to have different pairs of eyes look at my work and give me feedback. I really wanted to be apart and participate in a group but it just didn't happen that way and that ok...I sucked up what i couldn't fix and fixed what i had control over. I didn't let me not being apart of a group stop me, I put my pride to the side and made a promise to myself that I WILL continue with my studies. I being to buckle down after the first week of class realizing that I had to get to work and without me getting to work the work would not get done in a timely manner. Not being apart of a group was indeed a challenge but I made it through with the help of several other colleagues from class 5305. I was in luck well I like to refer to it as being blessed and fortunate because several of my group members were also apart of 5302. Since I was unable to collaborate with a group for class 5302 not that i didn't want too but because it was difficult getting a hold of people...getting no responses left me no choice but to move forward with my work. Reflecting back on the last 5weeks of class i feel i could have done better with reaching out to other groups to see if i could join forces with them. For the most part Ive completed everything in a timely manner just lacked being apart of a group so I'm giving myself the grade of a 78 for contribution to my learning and learning community for class 5302.007

- Growth Mindset vs Fixed MindsetIn Class 5303·December 2, 2021Obtaining a growth mindset takes time especially if you are used to having a fixed mindset. I consider myself to have a blend of both a fixed and growth mindset. Sometimes I find myself struggling with how I would like to accomplish certain things and then other times I don't even hesitate I just do and have to deal with the outcome later. With a fixed mindset I feel you are afraid of the unknown being stuck in a place that you are familiar with, afraid to do something different and wanting different result but scared to get out there and see what is is about. With a growth mindset you never stop growing, not afraid of failure because you know that if you keep working at it you will eventually get better and that's where the power of yet plays a major role. The power of yet will allow not only you as the teacher but your students as well to be able to know that just because they don't know yet they still have the opportunity to learn. Looking over the graphic of the fixed and growth mind set I've come to the conclusion that a person with a fixed mindset will not move forward because they don't have the right push and take criticism to a whole new level leaving them trapped and stuck while the person with the growth mindset does something and fail but try again.000

- Implementation Outline DraftIn Class 5305 ·October 10, 2021Implementation Outline Draft Blended Learning Eddricka King Transition from traditional learning to Blended Learning Overview: Blended Learning was designed and put in place for students to be able to have the choice, freedom, and flexibility when it comes to how they learn. The pandemic crisis of 2020 showed us just how important having the use of blended learning in the school system was/is. So many students across the state of Texas missed basically a year worth of educational learning because the students were used to face-to-face learning. Not having face-to-face learning for that short amount of time caused a huge decrease in grades for the majority of the students across the nation especially here in Texas and within our low-income school district. Some of the reasons students grades dropped was because most students did not own a computer, have internet access, not used to online learning and were just thrown in the position without proper training. Goal: To work with school officials, principals, teachers, and parents in order to help and make sure each student in low-income school districts are equipped with computers with built in hotspots, materials, and proper training needed to help our students transition from traditional face-to-face learning to adding blended learning into the students curriculum. Blended learning will give the students freedom to learn via electronic and online media as well as traditional face-to-face teaching (Oxford, 2021). With adding blended learning students will not skip a beat when it comes to their educational learning. Not only will it keep students on track but it will also be a huge help to teachers while keeping parents involved in their child/children education via computer, phone devices. Timeline: Phase 1 August 2021- Create an Innovation proposal, video, and literature review and have them revised. Submit an Innovation proposal to school board administration to be granted permission to begin implementing blended learning into low-income school districts. October 2021- Permission granted, Develop blended learning team Team will include: myself, 2-3 teachers, and technology specialists to help plan and share ideas December 2021- Set up meetings with school principals to see if they are interested in allowing their schools to participate in adding blended learning to the teachers curriculum. Timeline: Phase 2 January 2022 - May 2022 Blended Learning team meetings Identifying which blended learning model needs to be implemented based on the school and the students overall learning experiences. Work with teachers to set reasonable goals for their classroom and students. Informing parents of the new transition through email and letters sent home by students Need for a computer/internet access survey will go out to all students and their parents. June 2022 - October 2022 Data collected. Student devices will be purchased by the school. Computers will have built in wifi, as well as virus protection (HISD Tech Department) Computer programming will not allow access to outside website No extra funding needed. November 2022 - December 2022 Test run on all computers going to students Program installation per school, per grade Timeline: Phase 3 January 2023 - May 2023 Introducing Blended learning in the classroom Class Time preparing students, getting them familiar with the use of the new devices. Handling equipment and so on. Computer Lab time Sending out How to videos for guardians of students. Permission for use of computer use forms sent to parents, responsibilities, and cost if device is not returned and damage fees per device. Timeline: Phase 4 May 2023 - July 2023 Summer intervention program Assigning computers to students Parents are allowed to pick-up devices from school August 2023 - December 2023 Students must bring their assigned computer to class everyday for in class work as well as homework Students are learning at their own pace, not feeling pressured Able to engage in face-to-face learning as well as learning via device Accepting ownership, and responsibility References Oxford. - Learning From LeadersIn Class 5303·December 2, 2021Being able to see Eportfolio from other collogues taking the same courses I am within the Digital Learning Masters Program has been a major help in how I have been able to setup my own portfolio. Since I am really not a computer wizard its been really confusing with trying to upload pictures and continue adding videos. I did it one other time and it took me forever to figure out how to get it completed that time and an even longer time to get it done this go round. I've tried watching YouTube videos and looking at different articles but its not the same when you can use a visual from someone who already have insight on how it needs to be done. Being able to view others Eportfolios has allowed me to go back add and take away what is needed or not needed. Creating my own Eportfolio has only gotten better for me over these past few weeks because I have taking time to look over other portfolios to get ideas on how they've decided to set up their sites. Its been a slow but steady process when dealing with building and making sure my portfolio has flow to it. At first my site was all over the place but now since I know it must have some sort of flow I can get it flowing the correct way and continue to build on it with the other courses I have to take to complete this program. I believe everything we do is a learning process and at this point I'm trusting the process that overtime my eportfolio will get better and I'll be able to share the finish product with all my grad classes added to others who are in need of How to get their portfolios started.001
