When the pandemic happened I was in a pre-K class those student were in the process of learning to write their names, learning colors, ABC, interacting with other children, learning social and living skill. Fast forward to 2 years after the pandemic and these students barley know how to write their names and yet they are in the second grade. The pandemic it self caused a huge strain on our students in the past two years of them not being In school has caused them to spiral downhil. This kids haven’t learned anything and it show. I ask myself daily who’s really at fault? Can we blame the children for not getting online to complete their work or the parents for not sitting down and understanding that there was no more face to face and that they were now their students teachers. Its honestly sad because these children are basically starting over.

Being able to see Eportfolio from other collogues taking the same courses I am within the Digital Learning Masters Program has been a major help in how I have been able to setup my own portfolio. Since I am really not a computer wizard its been really confusing with trying to upload pictures and continue adding videos. I did it one other time and it took me forever to figure out how to get it completed that time and an even longer time to get it done this go round. I've tried watching YouTube videos and looking at different articles but its not the same when you can use a visual from someone who already have insight on how it needs to be done. Being able to view others Eportfolios has allowed me to go back add and take away what is needed or not needed. Creating my own Eportfolio has only gotten better for me over these past few weeks because I have taking time to look over other portfolios to get ideas on how they've decided to set up their sites. Its been a slow but steady process when dealing with building and making sure my portfolio has flow to it. At first my site was all over the place but now since I know it must have some sort of flow I can get it flowing the correct way and continue to build on it with the other courses I have to take to complete this program. I believe everything we do is a learning process and at this point I'm trusting the process that overtime my eportfolio will get better and I'll be able to share the finish product with all my grad classes added to others who are in need of How to get their portfolios started.

I asked myself this question everyday when I enter into the classroom and the reason is because the school district I currently work has little to no control of how to control and discipline the current students. This pandemic has really allowed us as educators to really see the truth about working within the school district. Just 2weeks ago I was working at a school in the Houston area an Elementary school at that an was placed in a pre k class upon entering the classroom I could hear the children screaming and they seemed to be running. Once I got to the door it was like a circus in there. As I walked around I observed everything before I made my presence know. These pre k students had no respect for their teacher the teacher was talking and the children where all over the place it really looked like a zoo. I was shocked and overwhelmed just by entering the room and I could tell that the teacher was about the same or a little bit more overwhelmed she looked so stressed out. It was really sad to continue to watch her struggled with over 30 plus kids and one teacher no teachers aid or nothing. I know its a struggle with getting teachers to come back to work but why would they when there is no control and no help from the district or the administration over the school. I made the suggesting that the teacher needed help to the main office of the school and was told the teacher needs to learn how to gain control over her students and no assistant was needed to help her. Well I know for a fact that the cap on students is 22 to 1 teacher anything over 22 a helper is needed. I can only imagine if there was a field trip and that teacher had to take all 30 children it would be a mess to even get them to all act accordingly. Its really wild within this school district that I've decided to leave that particular school and go to another one with less stress. Teachers are leaving that school daily and now I know why. Because its a mess that needs to be fixed.

Well since an Eportfolio is something that is created for one to be able to digitally keep up with all of their work I would have to say the person that owns the Eportfolio has to be the person who created it and in this case Dricka own this one. It has been a challenge in trying to figure out how to work my website but I'm not giving up because I'm taking it one day at a time while researching and watching how to videosown how to make my portfolio better. The most challenging part I have encountered is adding video and pages to my site, its been a hot a** mess but I'm here still hanging on. Having and creating this eportfolio has truly helped with my new learning environment. This Master's Program After taking the first two courses for this program I learned about COVA which is Choice, Ownership, Voice, and being Authentic...…everything that plays major roles in having and owning an eportfolio. Since we now know who owns the eportfolio we can say that I was giving the choice to create something that can help me keep up with all my work from my masters program digitally instead of writing it out on paper that can be easily destroyed. I also to ownership I acknowledge that it belongs to me I did it lol and even though you cant physically see me but I'm sure by now you can tell just by the way I type I have my own voice and sense of humor and last but not least its authentic which makes it original it has its own personal swag.

I’m Eddricka, this is my 3rd course for the semester I am truly eagered to learn more about how to make my eportfolio better which I learned how to do in 5302 it was a challenge but I actually created one and I’m so proud of myself. Currently I’m a substitute teacher within the Houston school district. I made the decision to come back to school because I actually love learning new things and reaching goals I never thought I could reach. I get excited when I accomplish new challenges. Leaving behind my fixed mindset and reaching for a growth mindset has really changed the way I look at things now. I’m ready to learn and teach the students I come in contact with ways to make their learning experience better through COVA. And with this grad program I will be able to do so. I’m not a big TV watcher but I did get caught up In the Squid games on Netflix which was very interesting and crazy all at once lol. Thanks for reading my intro

This has really been a rough month for me I am honestly so happy that I decided to only take one class this semester because if I had two it probably would have not been a good outcome for me. Taking just one class has allowed me to focus in on how to better my portfolio adding and taking away things I really don't need nor does it serve a purpose. I have come to the point if it serves no purpose for me I don't need it the less drama the better and that includes taking these college courses lol Not putting to much on myself because I tend to do that and I had to learn not to which is hard but I'm taking it one day at a time and that's all that matter.

Honestly now that I am back in school having an portfolio is one of the best things I could have gotten they really come in handy. Especially when it comes to keeping up with all your work an assignments. Being brought up doing everything by hand and having to file papers or keep up with loose papers has now become a thing of the past since almost everything has become digital. Technology has made it so much easier, we now have mini computers at the tip of our fingertips (our phones). Instead of writing things you need to do on pieces of paper you can now create a note in your phone and check off everything that needs to be done and the phone will track it for you. Eportfolios are used overall to digitally record the students learning through out their educational learning experience, giving one time to reflect on what you have accomplished through out your educational experiences as well as the cooperate world. Its a way to collect and reflect on your work, showcase achievements, create study and work plans. Its basically your OWN space a space you have created just for you and for you to be able to share with others if you choose. Creating an Eportfolio for grad school has been such a tremendous help for me allowing me to record and keep information needed for future dates all in one place. I am still learning how to setup different tabs and blogs which as become a challenge but not bad enough to say I give up....oh no that's not in me

I have made the decision to go back to my current school after taking a mini vacation for my brain. I’ve come to realize that my school district doesn’t care about their teachers that much. It hit me a few months back that in my opinion the reason it’s hard to get teachers to stay once they have decided to go other places, retire, or find other careers is because our teachers are not being treated properly by the students, their parents and mostly the admin system. Its wild now school is definitely not the same

Obtaining a growth mindset takes time especially if you are used to having a fixed mindset. I consider myself to have a blend of both a fixed and growth mindset. Sometimes I find myself struggling with how I would like to accomplish certain things and then other times I don't even hesitate I just do and have to deal with the outcome later. With a fixed mindset I feel you are afraid of the unknown being stuck in a place that you are familiar with, afraid to do something different and wanting different result but scared to get out there and see what is is about. With a growth mindset you never stop growing, not afraid of failure because you know that if you keep working at it you will eventually get better and that's where the power of yet plays a major role. The power of yet will allow not only you as the teacher but your students as well to be able to know that just because they don't know yet they still have the oppurnity to learn. Looking over the graphic of the fixed and growth mind set Ive come to the conclusion that a person with a fixed mindset will not move forward because they don't have the right push and take criticism to a whole new level leaving them trapped and stuck while the person with the growth mindset does something and fail but try again.

Here I am thinking how fast this semester is flying by....it seems like just a few weeks ago i was starting yet another class for my masters program. With so much going on in my regular life I could really just keep going because i know no matter how it looks now the ending will be great and I can then say look at me now I did it once again even with all the trials and many obstacles I make in counter. I made it through by staying focus and keeping the faith.

Moving forward within the ADL grad program I see it becoming more challenging but nothing that i cant handle, I mean Ive made it this far. The first two courses 5302 and 5303 stood in as the gateway, the starting point of what can be expected in the coming courses the foundation. Both of these courses helped me tremendously by opening my mind to new learning techniques that will not only help me but the students who sit in my class on a daily. As I continue to learn and attend grad school I have already seen a huge impact within my learning. Even with having a growth mindset I was allowing my fixed mind set to hold me back....Once I let go of my fixed mindset and allowed the power of yet to help me grow my mindset I have gotten better in how I approach different situations and strategies when it comes to making me better. In order to help others I have to help myself and then I can pass the torch to someone else. COVA is another way Ive been assisted in these course and that's by giving me choice, making me take ownership, giving me a voice, all while receiving authentic learning. COVA has allowed me to be as authentic as I like which is why I shall continue to learn and gain as much knowledge as I can cause now I have the freedom to do so.

First enrolling in school I made sure I came in with an open mindset,,,having an open mindset has allowed me to be able to explore and research more on the subject in which I am studying. Being in this program have given me insight on what ADL really is and how it applies to our current educational system and how important it is when coming to learning. Being able to collaborate with fellow colleagues has been a major and very helpful part of my current learning experience. I have gotten a chance to be apart of an amazing group of other educators who are so passionate about being able to help education become a better learning environment for our students and that alone has been a great experience. Creating my eportfolio for Class 5302 Concepts of Education has truly been an eye-opener and has allowed me to incorporate the use of COVA without evening knowing what COVA really meant. COVA stands for Choice, Ownership, Voice, and Authentic. With my online portfolio I have had the Choice to create an online site that i have complete ownership of, a place i have created to go and have a voice, a place I can share my ideas and not having to worry about being talked about for how i feel or think because guess what these are my thoughts my digital voice, This portfolio is raw footage from the one and only which makes it authentic. Having this online portfolio plays a major role in my current grad program and by the look of all upcoming classes I am going to continue need, use, and build my portfolio. Most valuable lesson I have learned thus far in my studies is to not take for granted what I can and can't do. Just keep putting my best foot forward. With not giving up because yes it was a challenge BUT I was able to create my own eportfolio, I also learned how to make a video, post it to YouTube, add pictures and links, things I would rather let a professional do. But with me choosing this field I put aside my fears stayed up and figured it out and when i was done i was so proud of myself.
