Professional Learning: Risk Taking 5389 After watching OCSB: Risk Taking video for this week I realized how important it is to not be afraid of taking risk when it comes to me just being a substitute. Just because I don’t have my own classroom, I can still be a big influence on the students that I encounter. Now don’t get me wrong I try my best to keep the students influenced through little funny stories that will keep them interested since they lose focus so fast. In my opinion to be comfortable in an uncomfortable situation you must first be willing to put your pride aside in all honesty kids now days are children of the digital world, so they do know a lot more about that part and they have taught me things I had no clue about. Giving children the opportunity to feel like they’re in charge is somewhat good but the district I’m currently these children really need to be the ones to listen giving them this type of power will not be good because they already don’t listen. Leaving traditional learning and elevating our way to the new culture of leaning will take time to get it all together BUT will not be hard to do or maintain especially when the teache.rs team up Reference: Innovation that sticks case study - OCSB: Risk taking ... Walking the Walk

For this week class videos and discussion it is very clear and important that the principals need to get involved when it come to Professional Development there needs to be some form of collaboration between Principals and their staff (the teachers). Since being in the school district I have learned firsthand how the teachers are being treated and its not good. Yes, teachers are role models but who are teachers to look up to with little to no help in the classrooms. Being that schools are now cutting budgets because funds are low teachers are stranded and when the teachers are not available the students are stranded. Its honestly just a big mess that needs to be fixed. Principals have a bigger job that requires a lot but if they are not demonstrating good leadership skills when it comes to helping the teachers who help the students the whole school fails.

Even if the principals are not on board the teacher doesn’t have to wait….. if they see there is a problem especially if they can fix it, I believe they will because as a teacher our students are our babies, and we try our hardest to help them while they’re under our care to the best of our ability and will more than likely go above and beyond. Teachers and students can make their own collaboration group their own learning environment.

I was very fortunate at an early age to be able to be put on programs at church. I didn’t know why then but now I know that every time my mom volunteered me to participate in a program it was for me to be able to deal with large audiences of people. Being 5 and 6 years old standing up in front of people is so scary but just as Simon Sinek mention you just must be yourself, own the room, and know your stuff (Sinek). He mentioned more but those three stuck out to me because that’s what you must do for anyone to really believe what you say is true.

Now when giving a speech sometimes you are faced with roadblocks that can’t be preventable but in the nature in which one occurs you will be able to get though those objections and be able to push forward. By getting your audience involved come up with a way to make a joke just to get by but never just stand there or say ummmmm like you’re thinking that really throws off what your trying to get across to the audience.

Both videos from this week were very good to watch even though I know im good a public speaking I get nervous and have to stop, pause, and get make on track.
